Embracing 2025: Strengthening Compliance, Collaboration and Commitment to Quality
By Carol Mislang-Tondares, MSN, RN | Senior Director of Compliance and Education
As we step into a new year, I am energized and ready to embrace this new position and opportunities to make a meaningful impact in home health and hospice care. Guided by a commitment to excellence and compliance, I have outlined key goals that will drive our efforts in 2025 and beyond. These goals reflect our dedication to quality care, community collaboration, and continuous improvement in meeting the needs of our patients and their families.
Strengthening Our Compliance Program
Compliance is the backbone of delivering safe and effective care. This year, my focus is on enhancing our compliance program for both home health and hospice services. By staying ahead of evolving Medicare regulations and aligning with accrediting bodies’ standards, we can ensure that our organization not only meets but exceeds expectations. This includes actively keeping up with new regulations and industry trends to adapt quickly and maintain the highest standards of care. A robust compliance program fosters trust and provides our patients and families with the assurance that they are receiving care of the highest quality.Collaborating with Community Partners
Quality care is a team effort, and building strong partnerships within our communities is essential. This year, I aim to strengthen collaboration with healthcare providers, long-term care facilities, and other organizations that share our mission. Together, we can deliver coordinated and seamless care that addresses the unique needs of every patient. These partnerships allow us to extend our reach, enhance our services, and make a positive impact on the communities we serve.Advocating for End-of-Life Care Through Education
Education is a powerful tool in advocating for the importance of end-of-life care. This year, I plan to provide in-services and educational programs to healthcare facilities and professionals. By raising awareness about the value of hospice care and equipping caregivers with the knowledge they need, we can help break down misconceptions and ensure that patients and families are informed and supported in making end-of-life decisions. Advocacy through education fosters a culture of compassion and understanding that benefits everyone involved.A Shared Commitment to Excellence
At the heart of these goals is a shared commitment to excellence—a commitment to doing our best for every patient, every family, and every colleague. Compliance, collaboration, and education are not standalone initiatives; they are interconnected pillars that support our mission of providing exceptional care. By striving for continuous improvement and adhering to the highest standards, including keeping up with new regulations, we can uphold the dignity and humanity of those we serve.Looking Ahead
As we embark on this journey, I am inspired by the dedication of our team and the resilience of our patients and families. The work we do in home health and hospice care is more than a profession; it is a calling that requires compassion, integrity, and an unwavering commitment to excellence. Together, let’s make 2025 a year of growth, collaboration, and meaningful impact. Here’s to a year of striving for excellence and making a difference, one step at a time.
